On November 14, 2024, auctions for RES were held for all zones of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan (except for the Tentek River) to select projects for the construction of small hydroelectric power plants with a total installed capacity of 20 MW.

5 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, and 11 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session.  The declared total capacity from the auction participants amounted to 23.23 MW.

The starting auction price for the auction for the selection of HPP projects in 2024 was 41.23 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).

During the trading session, the price range of applications received from auction participants ranged from 41.23 to 38 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).

According to the results of the auction, the following companies were identified as winners:

• Smart ReEnergy LLP, the installed capacity of the project is 1 MW, the auction price is 38 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT);
• Koksu Kuat LLP, the installed capacity of the project is 4.2 MW, the auction price is 39.99 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT);
• Karatal Cascade HPP LLP, the installed capacity of the project is 9.9 MW, the auction price is 40 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT);
• Smart ReEnergy LLP, the installed capacity of the project is 1 MW, the auction price is 40.01 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT);
• Electrical Energy LLP, the installed capacity of the project is 1 MW, the auction price is 41.17 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT);
• Turan Energy LLP, the installed project capacity 2.2 MW, the auction price 41.18 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC «Institute for Development of Electric Power and Energy Saving», USAID and AIFC participated in the auction as observers. The observers noted the complete transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer - JSC «KOREM».

It should be noted that this year, according to the Schedule for Renewable Energy Auctions, 400 MW of capacity was awarded in auctions for the construction of hydropower plants. During the competitive bidding process, the maximum price was reduced to 8 tenge per kWh.

The next auction is scheduled for November 15, 2024, to select of projects for the construction of WPP for the Northern Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with a total installed capacity of 100 MW.
