On June 13, 2024, auctions were held to select projects for the construction of RES wind power plants for the Northern Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 100 MW.

8 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, and 43 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session. The total volume of applications submitted amounted to 700 MW.

The maximum auction price approved by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan during the auction for the selection of WPP projects in 2024 was 22.68 tg/kWh (excluding VAT).

There is a decrease in the price range of applications from 22.68 to 6.9 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT). The price decrease from the maximum auction price for the selection of projects for the construction of WPP amounted to 69.6 %.

According to the results of the auction, the winner was determined by the company – «EcoWind» LLP, the installed capacity of the project is 100 MW, the auction price is 6.9 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be placed in the Aktobe region.

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ALE «KAZENERGY», the Asian Development Bank and UNDP took part as observers. Observers note the full transparency of the auction organizer's electronic trading system – JSC «KOREM».

The next auction is scheduled for June 14, 2024 for the selection of WPP projects for the Northern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with a total installed capacity of 200 MW.
