On June 11, 2024, auctions for RES for the Northern and Southern zones of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan (with the exception of R.Tentek) for the selection of projects for the construction of hydroelectric power plants with a total installed capacity of 20 MW.

According to the results of the trading session, 7 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, 110 price offers were submitted by participants during the trading session. The declared total capacity from the auction participants amounted to 44.35 MW.

In accordance with paragraph 55 of the Rules for the organization and conduct of auctions, the volume of installed capacity extraction has been increased from 20 to 20.7 MW.

The starting maximum auction price during the auction for the selection of HPP projects in 2024 was 41.23 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).

During the trading session, the price range of bids received from auction participants ranged from 41.23 to 10 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).

According to the results of the auction, the following companies were identified as winners:

• LLP «Karatal Cascade HPP» the installed capacity of the project is 9.9 MW, the auction price is 10 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT);
• LLP «Verkhne-Talaptinskaya HPP» the installed capacity of the project is 4 MW, the auction price is 11 tg/kWh (without VAT);
• LLP «Altyn-Hydro» the installed capacity of the project is 2 MW, the auction price is 33.9 tg/kWh (without VAT);
• LLP «Verkhne-Talaptinskaya HPP» the installed capacity of the project is 4.8 MW, the auction price is 36 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Electric Power Association, LLP «Asian Development Bank» and USAID took part as observers. Observers note the full transparency of the auction organizer's electronic trading system – JSC «KOREM».

The next auction is scheduled for June 12, 2024 for the selection of projects for the construction of HPP in all zones of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan (with the exception of R.Tentek) with a total installed capacity of 10 MW.
