On November 24, 2023, RES auctions were held to select projects for the construction of a solar power plant for the Southern Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 20 MW.

5 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, 59 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session. The total volume of applications submitted was 90.001 MW. The starting maximum auction price during the auction for the selection of SPP projects in 2023 was 34.61 tg/kWh (excluding VAT).

During the trading session, the price range of bids received from auction participants ranged from 34.61 to 17.38 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).

It is noted that a record price reduction of 49.78% from the maximum auction price for the selection of projects for the construction of SPP.

According to the results of the auction, the winner was determined by the company – LLP «Alkhena», the installed capacity of the project is 20 MW, the auction price is 17.38 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be placed in the Kyzylorda region.

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ALE «Kazakhstan Electric Power Association», the «Qazaq Green» Renewable Energy Association, the EBRD and USAID took part as observers. Observers noted full compliance with regulatory legal acts on the organization and conduct of auction bidding in the electronic trading system of the auction organizer.

The next auction is scheduled for November 27, 2023 for the selection of projects for the construction of SPP with a total installed capacity of 20 MW for the Southern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
