On November 23, 2023, RES auctions were held to select projects for the construction of a solar power plant for the Western Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 20 MW.

The maximum auction price approved by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan during the auction for the selection of SPP projects in 2023 was 34.61 tg/kWh (excluding VAT).

4 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, 5 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session. The total volume of applications submitted was 40 MW.

During the trading session, the price range of bids received from auction participants ranged from 34.61 to 34.19 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).

According to the results of the auction, the winner was determined by the company - LLP «Stellar Energy», the installed capacity of the project is 20 MW, the auction price is 34.19 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be placed in the West Kazakhstan region.

It should be noted that according to the Auction Schedule this year, one auction with a total installed capacity of 20 MW was determined and played for the construction of a solar power plant for the Western zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan with placement in the West Kazakhstan region.

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and USAID took part as observers. Observers noted the full transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer – JSC «KOREM».

The next auction is scheduled for November 24, 2023 for the selection of projects for the construction of large HPP with a total installed capacity of 200 MW for the Northern and Southern zones of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan and according to the type of SPP with a total installed capacity of 20 MW for the Southern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
